First Point - Surf break overview

Noosa‘s First Point is a nice soft right-hand point break, ideal for long-boarders. First Point breaks over and with the odd rock, and is just about always small, particularly in comparison to the points further around the corner (such as National Park, Tea Tree Bay and Granite Bay). When there’s a cyclone this place is so crowded it’s ridiculous, and maxes out over 6 foot. The crowds are probably due to the fact that it’s so darn easy to find, sitting at the east end of Noosa’s famous Hastings Street and in common view of visitors from far and wide which flock to Noosa every holiday season without fail.

The local longboarders tend to rule this break, so wait your turn for a wave. The other menacing locals that you should be wary of, are the parking inspectors in the area.  A trap for young players is to wait for ‘just one more wave’ out in the lineup, only to return to a parking ticket.  The parking signs don’t lie, so obey them right down to the minute.

If you want to escape the crazy crowds that run rife on all of Noosa’s points whenever the weather man on the local news hints at even the slightest increase in swell, the Noosa Rivermouth can be a better option. It’s located at the other end of Hastings St, and is fun in 2-6 foot swell with southerly winds. Catch it on the right day and it gets super hollow!
