Noosa National Park is the third of the series of points that wrap around the headland from Noosa’s Main Beach. This is probably the most crowded of all of the points, mainly because it holds the longest rides and has a large car-park smack-bang in front of it (though just because the carpark is big, it doesn’t mean you’ll score a park – there’s been punchups over car parking here many a time!).
This is an epic break in Cyclone swells (January-ish is when the occasional low pressure system forms off the coast). Long right-handers, with some barrelling sections, breaking over sand and rocks. In NE-E swells, if you pick the right wave, you can ride all the way through to Johnsons.
You’ll even hear the odd local say that back in the day they rode all the way through to Main Beach, but believe that when you see it. Holds up to around 8 foot before it starts getting a bit wild, with currents and rips and huge difficulties clambering in and out off the rocks.
