Double Island Point is north of Noosa. You can either get the ferry over from Noosa and drive up 80km along Teewah Beach, or take the drive from Rainbow Beach north, which is about the same distance .
Double Island Point is a sweet setup. Uncrowded due to the accessibility (by 4WD only), it’s a nice long right-hand point over a sandy bottom, brewing long and peely waves in the right conditions. If you get a decent wave the best thing to do is walk back along the beach instead of paddle all the way back. It’s generally a pretty forgiving wave, great fun with a couple of mates, shortboards, longboards, whatever floats your boat.
We recommend taking a marquee or tarp with poles, and setting it up on the beach as a temporary shelter for the day, since it’s a bit of a mission you may as well make a day of it, the missus and kids might even enjoy it too. Be sure to pack a few sandwiches (and maybe even a 6 pack) as it’s pretty isolated around here.
Gets the best when the swell is from the east.
